How old were you when you developed an interest in Japan?

When I was around 27 years of age.

Tell us about your interests and motives of coming to Japan.

I travelled to Japan with some of my friends during summer of 2007. At that time, I was immensely moved by many aspects of Japan, such as the beautiful sceneries and Japanese culture. Furthermore,  I became very good friends with a Japanese lady during the trip. Not only did we keep in touch after the trip, my interest for Japan’s culture also grew.

When did you decide that you want to work in Japan?

At 32.

When I was 34.

  • Lack of job offers for foreigners.

I am currently developing an application at the moment.

To have motivation in your work and life is very important.

If you have the right motivation, you get the hard things done easily.

My work content fits within my area of interests, so I have fun while working.

Tell us why working in Japan appeals to you.

If you live in Japan, you get a secure and stable life. I have huge interests in Japan, and learning a new culture for me was very enjoyable. Learning Japanese was a great opportunity, even though it is difficult.

Are there any other struggles you are facing aside from work in Japan? How did you manage to deal with it?

To this day, there weren’t life-changing struggles because I always get the help I needed from everyone in the company.

Tell us about your job aspirations (Career developments) in the future.

One step at a time, I would like to pile up the experiences I am gaining from my career, as I am always learning new methods and skills in my area of expertise. I want to always take on a new challenge, and to grow along side together with the company.

How did you find an accommodation when you first came to Japan?

I went directly to a real estate agency.

How do you spend the holidays?

I would go and explore a new prefecture of Japan in my shorter holidays, but when I have longer ones, I would do my annual visit to see my family in Spain.

Are there any struggles that you are experiencing other than living in Japan?

When I just arrived in Japan, I could hardly speak any Japanese at all. It was like being a child because I could not do many things by myself.

Any words for those who are interested in looking for a career in Japan?

If you surpass the language barrier, everything becomes easier. I would advise you to study hard in Japanese!
